DOMINIC HILL /// SERIES PRODUCER & DIRECTOR

About

Hello, welcome to my site and thanks for taking a look around.

I'm an experienced senior level Producer and Director with a successful background in broadcast television production and development. Over the last 15 years I have produced a variety of successful factual entertainment, observational documentary and reality programmes for both UK and US broadcasters. These include Series Producer and Series Director credits for Channel 4, BBC, The Discovery Channel and Co-Executive Producer credits for TLC.

My work has taken me to far corners of the planet whilst filming challenging expeditions, heart stopping stunts, remote tribes, extreme sports and dangerous jobs, but am just as comfortable working with well known talent and contributors in compelling situations closer to home. Whether it's filming sports personalities, world renowned chefs and explorers or going behind closed doors to investigate extraordinary lives and cultures, I always seek compelling, character driven and emotive stories.

I combine strong journalistic and editorial skills with the ability to capture creative and breath-taking visuals. I am also used to setting the style and tone of a series from pre-production scripting through to final post. My series producer and co-executive producer experience also means I am used to managing large editorial and production teams, working closely with commissioners as well as overseeing budgets and schedules to successfully deliver a production on time.

In 2014, an idea I originated, series produced and directed about a friend and other young British pilots flying in remote and dangerous regions of Indonesia was commissioned into the 4 x 1 hour behind the scenes factual entertainment series ‘Worst Place To Be A Pilot’ for Channel 4. The opening episode received 'Pick of the Week' in both the London Metro and Radio Times Magazine, and the overall series received outstanding reviews in the national press.

Worst place to be a pilot' could turn into compulsive viewing, even for those with a serious fear of flying. The characters are interesting, the scenery breathtaking and the in-air footage jaw-dropping."  The Guardian

‘Quite how Channel 4 struck upon such a superb concept was the biggest mystery. It had that rarest of qualities, moments of genuine originality, and for that, it’s well worth making a date for.'
